SDWorks believes in blue-sky thinking and visionary ideas from young students and helps them make these dreams and concepts come to life in the commercial realm. The SDWorks project was born in 2007 with the idea of taking to market the most engaging and stimulating ideas from students of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design. Guided by co-founder and project director, Dr. Ernesto Spicciolato, projects are chosen and then curated for development.
SDWorks is a self-financing unit of School of Design, which selects and further develops students' projects for production. Selected projects become products that are then taken to market and sold in commercial venues around the world. A percentage of sales goes to the designer as royalties and profits are re-invested to further develop new products. SDWorks successfully brings exciting student ideas to the commercial world and guides dreamers and innovators to become professional designers in a global marketplace.
